Mecca Masjid

Mecca Masjid is one of the oldest Masjids of India. This Masjid is listed in the heritage buildings of Hyderabad. Mecca Masjid Is located close to other famous historical monuments such as the Charminar, Laad bazaar and the Chowamahalla palace. This Masjid is built by the very famous sultan of Hyderabad, Sultan Muhammad Qutub Shah. He was the 6th Qutub Shahi sultan of this place. He had brought bricks from Mecca and inducted them to build the centre arc of the Masjid that explains the name of this Masjid.
In Hyderabad there are many such ancient buildings that have an awe-inspiring granite giant. The main hall of this Masjid is 220 feet wide, 180 feet long and 70 feet high, this hall is so big that is has a capacity to accommodate about 10 thousands worshippers at a time. There are about 15 grace full arches build to support the roof of the main hall and they are places such that 5 arches are placed on each of the three sides. There is a sheer wall that rises on the fourth side of the hall to provide mehrab. Each arch is been carved by a single piece of Granite and this took 5 years to quarry. There were more than 8000 workers who had put all their efforts to build this grand Masjid. And it took 77 years to build Mecca Masjid.
Legends say that the size of the stone is regarded as the subject of a special accomplishment and also of a niche. This is the place where prayers are offered. This rock is so enormous in size that it took about 5 years for quarrying the rock and there were altogether 500 -600 people who worked hard continuously on this stone. There are innumerable sermons of Quran that have been intricately represented on the arch of the Masjid.
People get attracted to the main gate way as they enter the Masjid and see the amazing man made pong of bluish water out of it. On the edge of the pond there are two stones and a slab bench where people sit and enjoy the water fall. Tourist's who have visited this place before wish to visit Mecca Masjid again. There is a room that is located inside the courtyard; it is believed to be the house of the hair of the Prophet Muhammad. It is found that the main structure of this Masjid is sandwiched between the two main and massive octagonal columns that are quarry out from single granite. The overview of the Mecca Masjid yields a picture of a huge rectangular granite monolith.
On the 4 sides of the roof of the Masjid there are ramparts that are made up of granite planks. These granite planks are made in the shape of inverted conches that are preached on the pedestals.
There are tombs of the Nizams of the Asaf Jahi who ruled Hyderabad from 1803 onwards.The hall that is called as the prayer hall consists of 5 aisles. There are also minars that are circular is shape and balconies that are orthogonal in shape. These cresting domes of this Masjid were included in the Mecca Masjid later by the Mughal emperors. The construction of this Masjid began in the year 1614 by Sultan Qutub Shah and was completed in 1687 by Aurangzeb.

Chote Hazrat Ki Dargah, Hyderabad, IndiaChote Hazrat Ki Dargah is situated in the Devan Devadi area of Hyderabad, India. This Dargah dates back to the period when Asif Jahi was ruling Hyderabad. This Dargah is built by the Mughal ruler Asif Jahi in honor of Hazrat Ali the son-in law of Prophet Muhammad. In order to reach this Dargah people have to climb about 400 steeps in a row. This is a very popular and holy pilgrimage place for the Muslims.HistoryLegend says that Yakoob a eunuch in the court of Ibrahim got a dream and he saw HazratAli in his dreams sitting on Hill top. The next day after his dream he went on the hill and saw the palm of Hazrat Ali on a stone on the same hill. He then took the carved stone and he installed it in a shrine. Later an arch was built on the spot where the rock was found on top of the hill. Later as time passed a mosque was built by Ibrahim Shah, which was close to the Dargah. Finally during the rule of Qutub Shah this mosque and the Dargah were renovated and many new places were added.
There are many Muslims who come to visit this place for offering prayers during the 8th and the 10th day of Muharram. This is considered as an important festival of Muslims. People have a strong belief that Chote Hazrat fulfills all their wishes.
